About the Thailand Livability Index
The Thailand Livability Index (TLI) is an open-data project covering all 77 Thai provinces. Created by William J. Reynolds (ORCID 0009-0005-1217-7465) in 2026, it combines 31 indicators from 26 primary public-data sources into a single composite livability score per province, published under CC BY-NC 4.0. Where the data comes from
TLI draws on 26 primary public-data sources spanning Thai government statistics agencies, international scientific datasets, open civic data, and accreditation bodies. The full roster, with each source's outbound link, the indicators it feeds, and coverage notes, is on the data sources page.
The seven categories
TLI rolls up to seven CategoryA category is one of the seven groups of indicators that aggregate to a category score. The seven are Environment & Climate, Healthcare, Connectivity & Transport, Cost & Economy, Safety & Governance, Lifestyle & Culture, and Demographics & Scale. Licensing
Code is MIT-licensed. The methodology, indicator dictionary, and data outputs are published under CC BY-NC 4.0 for academic, journalistic, personal, civic, educational, and Thai-government use, with attribution. Commercial use is reserved and not currently licensed. Names and marks are trademarks of the project maintainer.
